Literature Text

The seemingly endless scenery of sparsely wooded hills, small lakes and fields passed by her green eyes without being seen.  They had been travelling for hours now and she was completely bored, with nothing else but her music to occupy her mind.  Her mother who was driving was of course keeping her eyes on the road, probably humming to whatever horrid country station was currently available.  And her younger sister Ellen was fast asleep in the seat in front of her.  She actually envied Ellen being able to sleep still, because she had already slept as much as she was going to, meaning that she would be awake for awhile still.  She'd probably be awake for the remainder of the trip too, judging from how her mother was paying special attention to the signs they were passing.

She was feeling utterly miserable, as any typical 17 year old would be when stuffed in a cramped car for hours on end.  It was pretty lucky for Ellen that she was still so young that their mother feared all of their belongings crammed into the back seat could possibly crush her if it toppled over.  So on top of having no real room to relax, she wasn't happy about the reason for the trip.  They were moving quite a distance from where they had been living, a fairly large metropolitan city.  It wasn't like she had any real love for the place, shy for the most part she didn't have many friends that she would miss.  But at least she knew her way around the city and where things were.  She doubted the place they were going to even have a decent library with how small her mother had made it seem.  There was only one school there, so how large could the town be?

Letting out a sigh she rested her chin on the palm of her hand, and continued to gaze out the window.  It was at least quite pretty so far, with a lot of natural beauty.  It didn't make up for being dragged away from where she'd spent most of her life, but it was one small positive.  As if her mother had read her thoughts, she started talking to her, of which she only caught a few words.  Lifting her hand she brushed her nearly white blonde hair out of her eyes as she took one of the ear buds out of her ear.

"Sorry, what was that mom?" She asked with a slight tilt of her head, having turned to look towards the front.  Her mother was watching her through the rearview mirror.

"I said, we're just about there Roselle.  I think you'll like the look of the town you know, it may be small but it's pretty up to date.  And since we lived there until we moved when you were 8, maybe you'll run into someone you knew," Her mother repeated what she had said, and added some more, evidently trying to get Roselle to believe it would be fine.  Roselle just shrugged her shoulders, until she saw the plastered on smile her mother had, which she would return with a faint one of her own.  She wasn't sure she believed her mother.  Sure it was the town that she had been born in and all, but that didn't mean it would be good.  And it wasn't like she remembered much about it since they hadn't been back since Roselle was 8 years old.  The most she had in the way of memories of the town was their own home really.

"Oh, ok," Roselle replied after a moment or two, just to be polite.  Despite being a fairly average teenager, she did do her best to get along with her family.  Normally she was a lot more pleasant, but the situation had her a little cranky.  Her mother didn't respond with anything after that and didn't seem to have anything more she wanted to say, so Roselle turned her eyes back to outside the car window.  She hoped that maybe her peers in her new school were going to be nicer than before.  That would be something that could get her happy about moving is if she had a better life there.  Roselle hadn't always been so painfully shy, considering that at one point she had been quite the outgoing type.  But that was before she had started going to school where the other students had ridiculed her cheerful attitude out of her.

It hadn't been because Roselle wasn't pretty, smart or anything like that, because she was all of those and more.  It had simply been because of the fact of what she was, a mixed breed.  Most of the time the races of the world did stick to their own because of fertility issues and the like, so she had been a rare one.  A half-vampire.  Her mother was a full blooded human and she assumed her father had been a full vampire. Not that she had ever known him, or that her mother ever spoke about him.  The most she had been told was that Roselle's father had been a vampire and that he had left for his own reasons.  And of course that made the currently 9 year old Ellen her half sister.  Ellen's father had died the year before, a human as well and their mother decided that she wanted to move away from the city that had so many reminders of him.  Roselle would have hid what she was too if she'd known what would happen, if she could've hid the signs of her vampiric heritage.  It was bad enough that she had pointed ears and elongated fangs, but the fact that she had to eat rare meat in order to keep her cravings under control made it impossible.  Thinking about all of that caused her to sigh, and run her tongue gently over one of her sharp fangs.
Alrighty, I know some people will say I already have quite a few things already started that I should work on... but... not so easy to do that. Most writer's would understand that lol

Anyways, yet another dream managed to inspire me... Yes, this includes another half vampire, but I think this will be the one I do between the two of them. There may be a picture coming too of the main character, but we shall see.

It's quite late here and as such I should get some sleep. Hopefully tomorrow I will be motivated to continue working on it so I can get more done.

Hope this is enjoyed, and intrigues everyone ;P
